Students unleash creativity and new skills through Tinker Camp – Construction

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) – This year, Grandville Christian School is adding a new camp to their “Tinker Camp” family, which will be construction focused. Tinker Camp – Construction is patterned after Timmerdorp Camps (loosely translated to “Hammer Town” in Dutch) which are very popular throughout the Netherlands.

During Tinker Camp – Construction, 3rd-6th grade students will be working together under the guidance of crew leaders to create structures made out of wooden pallets.

Envision epic fort building!

Students will use hammers, nails, drills, and hand saws (while larger saw work is left to the adults). During this week of hands-on learning; students will become knowledgeable about tool safety, while also unleashing their creativity and learning new skills.

Proceeds from Tinker Camp – Construction will be used to purchase “Maker Supplies” for use by all Grandville Christian students/teachers in the 2017/2018 school year.

Please e-mail Steph Sytsema (ssytsema@gccsmi.org), Amy Ramaker (aramaker@gccsmi.org), or Mike Jacobs (mjacobs@gccsmi.org) with any questions you may have. You may also contact GCS Principal, Derek Braman (dbraman@gccsmi.org).
