GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) – Mason Schafler, a 10-year-old Cub Scout, sets lofty Popcorn sales goals not to benefit himself, but to help others. Mason broke last year’s $14,450 Popcorn sales record for Michigan by $25 on October 3. On Saturday (October 22) he broke the 9-state regional record of $18,730 by selling $20,800 . The region includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, parts of North and South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, said Matt Levin, Central Regional Sales Manager for Trail’s End which supplies the Popcorn for the annual Boy Scout sale. Mason wanted to sell enough Popcorn to get his Pack better trophies, not just for one year, but for several years. He set the goal at $10,000, but quickly made the decision to surpass it for the trophies and as a way to set the bar for his fellow Scouts.
