GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV)–DIY a batch of homemade pumpkin spice, then use it throughout the fall on just about everything. It’s simple and economical to make in bulk. All you’ll need is a blender and cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cloves. It only takes a second to blend, then sprinkle on toast, oatmeal or apple slices, mix it into your coffee or smoothie, add it to granola or homemade protein bars. It makes a great gift too!
Pumpkin Spice Blend
Makes 2/3 Cup
6 tablespoons cinnamon, ground or 12 3″-4″ sticks
1 1/2 tablespoons ginger, ground
1 1/2 tablespoons nutmeg, ground or 3 whole nutmeg seeds
1 tablespoon all spice, ground or 1 1/2 tablespoons of whole allspice berries
1 tablespoon cloves, ground or 1 1/2 tablespoons of whole cloves
Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and pulse until throughly combined. It will smell amazing! Store in a clean and dry container.
mTip: If you don’t have ground spices, a high-speed blender will be able to grind the whole dried spices for you.
