GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) – So what if I enjoy the tailgate better than the actual game? I bet the boys do too, but they just won’t admit it. No matter your opinion on the subject, tailgating is an essential part of fall ball. A simple parking lot party can bring hundreds of people together supporting the same cause, the same team. Below is a list of necessities to create the perfect ladies tailgate! Enjoy.

This Saturday starting at noon Notre Dame is at NC State followed by Florida State at Miami at 8 p.m. on My ABC WOTV4

…Because we all know from our college days, a little bit of giggle juice can make strangers the best of friends. By a few packs of red solo cups, and get the party started! Some creative ways to get it in your system without hating every sip: Pudding shots, jello shots, vodka gummy bears, etc.

Break the ice with a few games! Bring a cheap, pop up table for beer pong or flip cup. Two other common tailgating games are ladder ball and corn hole. All of which will get your competitive juices flowing for game time and bond you girls like non other.

Good eats!

If you are drinking as much as my girlfriends and I typically do this time of year, food is essential to tailgate survival! …And the better the food, the bigger the smile. So, you can do the whole “bring your own grill” thing and cook burgers and hot dogs, OR, what I suggest, is walking tacos. They’re simple, tasty, and oh-so portable. All you need are individual bags of chips (Doritos, Fritos, and original Lays are best), a package of cheese, and a container of taco meat – the rest is optional. Go big and bring lettuce and sour cream, if your heart desires! You can also make football spirited appetizers, which you can find on our Pinterest page.

Cuteness factor

Alright, ladies. We know to make this the perfect tailgate, there needs to be a cuteness factor. What will separate your tailgate from others around you? What will draw the crowd? What will make the memories?

Face paint

Face paint will immediately make you look like you know football (okay, maybe not, but it’s cute).

Buy some dollar store beads the color of the team you’re supporting. This will unite your tailgating group.

Matching something

Make cheesy matching t-shirts, all buy pom-poms, wear the same colors, etc. These will make your pictures so cute! You’ll love to look back on them.

Mason jars

Because EVERYTHING looks cuter in a mason jar! Throw your plastic silverware in a few decorated jars for a guaranteed 3 “oh my gosh, look how cute these are!” statements.

One of you needs to bring some portable speakers. This will get everyone in the mood to have fun, dance around, and mingle!

A tent

Being from Michigan, you never know what the weather’s going to be like! Whether it’s blistering hot or starting to rain, having a tent will protect you from it all! Plus, having a tent solidifies your group’s territory at the tailgate. If a few of you wander off to meet up with other people, they can always look for the white tent – that’s home base.
