Meet Maranda. She’s the host of Maranda Where You Live, a locally produced half-hour daily show for kids and families on WOTV 4 Women.  While she’s normally busy setting up interviews, exploring our great community and hosting her signature event, “Maranda’s Park Parties”, there’s a lot more to know about this power woman and her career.

Question 1: Describe your job and why you love it.

I love my job because everyday is a new opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others!

Question 2: Dig through your purse and tell us three must have items you found and 1 item you were surprised to find.

Car keys, cell phone and credit cards are my must haves. One surprise item? A gift card to one of my favorite coffee spots!

Question 3: When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a professional ice skater!

Question 4: What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it is within your power to act.

Question 5: What’s the job you’ve had (in your lifetime) that still gives you nightmares?

Working at an AM radio station and being responsible for signing off the station every night!

Question 6: What’s the best thing you’ve done to advance your career?

Been true to myself.

Question 7: Flats or heels?

Comfortable heel!

Question 8: Crying at work? Okay or not okay?

Okay-sometimes there are no words.

Question 9: Work/life balance? How do you make it work? What time do you “clock out”?

Never easy!! I try to remember every time I say yes to a weeknight or weekend event I’m saying no to my family so I need to make sure the yeses are to things that are important to me. “Clocking out”-what’s that? 🙂

Question 10: Eating lunch at your desk? A do or a don’t?

90% of the time it’s what I do or it’s lunch meetings. It really makes me appreciate the 10% of the time I can enjoy lunch with a friend, family member or co-worker!

Question 11: What makes you grateful?

Life. I think it’s important to count your blessings everyday. Life is good and I am so thankful for every minute of it!

Question 12: What was your biggest blunder in a job interview? What did it teach you?

I got a call to meet with a prospective boss that same day. I had to borrow a nice blouse and jacket from a co-worker. Lesson learned, always be prepared!

Question 13: Describe your morning routine.

A good cup of coffee, social media updates, yoga, journaling, off to work!

Question 14: Proudest career moment to date.

Park Parties!!

Question 15: What’s the most important thing in your life right now?

My faith, my family and friends.

Question 16: What time did you wake up today?

5:30 a.m.

Question 17: What’s the first thing you notice when you meet someone?

I try to notice their heart. Who they really are and what they really need.
