GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) ArtPrize is all about inspiring creativity and sometimes that can get messy! Kids love to get filthy and have fun when it comes to creating art. No one knows that better than Adventures Learning Center, which celebrates messy fun with International Mud Day each year!
Adventures says letting kids play in the dirt in a fun and safe way decreases stress and anxiety and actually helps build their immune systems. The child care facility goes all out each year, creating a mud kitchen, mud puddles, troughs of mud, and of course, mud art!
When it’s time to get clean, check out a unique ArtPrize entry that’s all about soap. “#cleanseinstall” is on display at the Fed Galleries at Kendall College of Art and Design. It consists of tiny sculptures made of soap. The artist created a 3D scan of her body and used that as a mold for the soap. Visitors are encouraged to talk a small soap sculpture and use it as conversation piece to start a discussion about their ideas of beauty, desire, and consumption. Document it on social media with the hashtag #cleanseinstall. Those social media posts will be shown in a live feed at the Fed Galleries.
