GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) ArtPrize Eight is back with a bigger and better ArtPrize Education Days! Last year, the program saw nearly 16,000 students from across the state of Michigan come to downtown Grand Rapids.

Each Education Days program is a free 30 to 90 minute session that includes National Core Arts Standards. New initiatives for 2016 include guided tours with local teaching artist Eliza Fernand for high school students and the new ArtPrize Early Childhood program series, which will bring more than 1,000 pre-K students and their families to the event.

The program is also rolling out a new friend, Pig E. Banks, who is helping kids enjoy hands-on educational experiences at ArtPrize Eight.

Also at ArtPrize is the Mobile Art Lab, which is mounted on a bicycle. Visitors young and old can participate in art activities whereever they see the Mobile Art Lab.

Art comes in all forms, including dance. Dance Dimensions is a competitive dance studio in Grand Rapids. More than 80 of its tap dancers are opening the half time entertainment for the Grand Rapids Drive.

From dance to music, kids at Rosa Parks Circle got a chance to learn how to play the harmonica from Hank Mowery.

ArtPrize visitors can check out art while saving some money! For the second year, Meijer is partnering with ArtPrize with its mPerks program. Log on to the ArtPrize app and tap the mPerks icon. The more you vote on ArtPrize entries, the more you save with mPerks through deals on bread, milk, and $5 off your next purchase.

Maranda also got a chance to check out all the ArtPrize fun at Fifth Third Bank They are hosting 56 artists who will have works on display in their building. You’ll be able to see ArtPrize pieces both inside the building and outside as well.
