GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Aquinas College Women’s Connection – a West Michigan networking group focused on connecting women through camaraderie and mentorship opportunities is pairing up with Goodwill to host a Garden Party event featuring eco-friendly fashions showcased by ‘role models of the community’ – the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids.
The event highlights the connection between the college and the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids, who founded the school in 1886: their role models. The fashion showcase at the Garden Party focuses on Aquinas College and the Dominican Sisters’ commitment to sustaining an Earth-friendly mission of repurposing clothes and cutting down on the waste of materials, especially synthetic fabrics that are harmful to the environment.
Guests will enjoy nibbles and sips from the bellini bar as they take in the lakeside view and beautiful grounds of the Brookby Estate, the historic home of the Blodgett family and now home to the Aquinas College president and many campus events. Guests will also view fashions generously provided by Earth-friendly boutiques: Rosa’s Closet, Clothing Matters, Conscious Collective, Georgie’s, ReBlue, Gild the Lily, Resale Republic and LBD Exchange.
The Garden Party can be enjoyed at Brookby Estate, 250 Plymouth Ave SE, on Saturday, September 17th from 1-3pm. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased until September 2nd at Aquinas.edu/AQWCgardenparty. The event is open to the public and you do not have to be an Aquinas alumna to attend.
