GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) – I have another great restorative pose for you to try. Its easy to do and very relaxing to the body also calming to the mind. Thread the Needle- Revolved child’s pose or Sucirandhrasana in Sanskit
Its starts from the hands and knees. Lift your right arm and then thread the right arm under the body reaching to the left as you lower you right shoulder and head to the floor, head facing left. Try to keep the hips directly above the knees and the pelvis in line with the torso. If you cannot quite get your shoulder to the ground just use a pillow or folded blanket to support the head and shoulder. Stay here for 30 seconds to 1 minute. You can just close the eyes and focus on the breath. When you are ready, simply change sides.
This in a gentle inverted posture. Benefits include –
- Stretches the shoulders and opens the chest
- Stretches the neck, arms and back
- Strengthens the arms
- Twisting motions detoxifies and aids digestion
- Increases relaxation
