GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Sixteen West Michigan children are getting VIP treatment at Fifth Third Ballpark for a special game with the West Michigan Whitecaps.

Fifth Third Bank partners with Stand Up 2 Cancer each year for a special Whitecaps game. So far, they’ve raised about $6.5 million dollars to support cancer research.

On September 1, 16 kids from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital will get the royal treatment with activities on the field, special jerseys for them to wear, and baseball cards with their name and information on them.

One of them is 11-year-old Lilly. She was diagnosed with aplastic anemia about three years ago. Her treatments worked at first, but the illness came back. Lilly underwent a bone marrow transplant at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in November. She is getting an important role at the Stand Up 2 Cancer game, as she helps the Whitecaps with their social media.

You can help too by taking to social media. Fifth Third Bank will donate $1 to Stand Up 2 Cancer each time a person uses the hashtag #howifight on social media. To learn more on how you can help the fight against cancer, visit 53.com/SU2C.
