GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) It is important to stay fit and to stay active and it’s even easier to do when you can do it with your family!
FitKids360 is a healthy lifestyle behavioral change program. Children are referred there by their primary care physicians if they are between the ages of five and 17 and are in the 85th percentile BMI for their age and gender. The program promotes healthy lifestyle changes by educating children about nutrition, behavioral health, and exercise. It also provides them with tools like goal setting and behavioral changes.
FitKids 360 hosts seven week sessions at area locations, incorporating a team that includes a social worker, registered dietitian, exercise physiologist, and group exercise instructor. The program is free and siblings are invited to participate!
Chad Hughes of Fit Body Boot Camp wanted to reach out to the community and benefit a health and wellness-focused program. His team came up with the idea to hold a kickball tournament to benefit FitKids360. The tournament is on Saturday, August 20 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Manhattan Park in East Grand Rapids.
