GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) — April is home to a race that celebrates women in sports. The Gazelle Girl Half Marathon and 5K takes place in downtown Grand Rapids on Sunday, April 17. The women-only event has a celebratory atmosphere that makes it perfect for first-time racers. It’s also a great way to network and meet people.
Gazelle Girl kicks off with a full weekend of fun events. LUNAFEST takes place Friday, April 15 at the Downtown Market Grand Rapids. It is a national film festival feature short films by women, for women, and about women. There are showings at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. with a reception in between. The event will feature a fashion show with stylish reflective gear designed by students at Kendall College of Art and Design.
The Expotique presented by Priority Health is Saturday, April 16 at New Vintage Place. Participants can pick up their race packets or register for the race (if available). There will be special activities, workshops, shopping, and more!
Gazelle Girl benefits four charities in the Grand Rapids area: Girls on the Run, YWCA, GROW, and Gazelle Sports Foundation. Online registration is open until 9 a.m. on Friday, April 15.
