GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) In Michigan, nearly 14,000 kids are in need of foster care every year, but less than one third of those children are able to find safe homes because there are not enough foster parents.
Lutheran Social Services of Michigan is on a mission to resolve the crisis by spreading the word about foster homes. They say anybody who is welcoming to open their home can be a foster parent.
The Shaw family is a foster home success story. They adopted two boys as infants and have been providing for foster children for a few years through Lutheran Social Services. Right now, they have four boys, ages four, five, six, and seven. They say while sometimes it is crazy, it is so rewarding to know they are making a difference in these children’s lives.
