GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Busy moms tend to put everyone else before themselves, but one West Michigan mom decided to make a change that has had a positive impact on her whole family.
Jennifer Sklener decided in July 2015 that she needed to make some healthy changes in her life. As a working mother of four and homeschooling parent, she didn’t have much time for herself. She realized being a healthier person would make her a better mother, so she started a nutrition and exercise plan and lost 20 pounds. Her family cancelled their cable TV and started doing more active things together. Sklener ran her first 5K on Thanksgiving Day 2015.
Now Sklener has her sights set on the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon. Her daughter, Anna, was so motivated, she decided to run the Gazelle Girl 5K with her mother.
