GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) The third annual Valent-ICE celebrates winter with a three-day festival in downtown Grand Rapids.

Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. came up with the idea to help Grand Rapids become a four season city. They want people to be able to enjoy the downtown area during the winter as well as in warmer months. The festival is organized by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. in partnership with the Ice Guru, the Downtown Market, and the City of Grand Rapids.

Some of the highlights include:

  • More than 50 ice sculptures on display throughout downtown
  • A seven foot tall Grand Budapest Hotel at MadCap Coffee
  • Wishing well filled with frozen pennies at the center of a guess-and-win contest sponsored by Springthrough
  • Musical instruments celebrating Van Andel Arena’s 20th anniversary

The ice sculptures are organized in a walking tour around downtown. Visitors can vote for their favorite sculptures by texting (616) 432-2790 to be entered to win a downtown prize package.
