GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) — West Michigan has a fantastic food scene with lots of new restaurants that mix fresh, farm to fork food with funky and fun atmospheres. Here are four new restaurants that we visited around West Michigan.

The Kitchen and Kitchen Counter by Wolfgang Puck

This restaurant opened in the fall after much anticipation. The Kitchen Counter is great for a quick grab-and-go lunch, while The Kitchen is a beautiful restaurant with a fabulous wine and signature cocktail selection. My favorite thing about The Kitchen? The view! It overlooks the Grand River making the atmosphere that much better. The Kitchen Counter features soups, salads, and sandwiches. The Kitchen features a more extensive menu of pizzas, appetizers, salads, noodles and entrées. Check out both inside the Amway Grand Plaza on the Main Floor.

Electric Hero Delicatessen

Deli lovers rejoice, this Grand Haven staple just moved to Downtown Grand Rapids within the past few months. Located right on Ottawa (about a two minute walk from The GRAM), this is a cool spot to grab a great sandwich. This place is good for people who love a good kick of unexpected flavor. Their sandwiches include a few out of the box ingredients like, mango chutney, guacamole with coconut milk, and horsey mustard. Address: 125 Ottawa Ave, Downtown Grand Rapids MI.

If you love the Tacos El Caporal, then you have a new restaurant to try! Luna on Ionia in Downtown Grand Rapids has the same awesome tacos with a few more additions on the menu. Their margaritas are fantastic, but I recommend checking out their seasonal sangria. My favorite way to enjoy Luna is to get a few of the plates to share among a group, and definitely try the queso! Address: 64 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI

Principle Food and Drink

The masterminds behind Salt of the Earth in Fennville have opened Principle Food and Drink in Kalamazoo. It’s a higher end, date night, restaurant on Kalamazoo Mall Street with crazy good farm to fork food. There are a lot of specialty drinks featuring bourbon or gin, but also a really large wine selection. When reading the menu, you’ll see a lot of things that make you go “hmmmm…those items go together?” but trust me, it’s all delicious so don’t be afraid to try something new. Address: 230 S Kalamazoo Mall, Kalamazoo, MI 49007
