BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Ferris State University is helping children in Michigan see clearly. The Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris participates in the Students in Need of Eyecare program. The program was founded to help connect kids to eye care services to which they may not have access.
The program is set up to be like a fun field trip. Students are bused in from schools in areas where there is a great need for eye care services. They get a day of fun events as well as a complete eye exam and a choice of glasses. The program is grant-funded, so it is free for families.
