Fresh flavor all year long: Preserving herbs


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) — Preserve your herbs year round with this easy technique. Take the greens of your choice, wash, de-stem, thoroughly dry, and put them in a resealable freezer bag. Then, compress and roll out the air while rolling up the bag. Next, secure with elastic bands, and freeze. You can cut off what you need, when you need it and quickly refreeze. Chives, parsley, and mint freeze best, but this also works with other greens. These leafy greens are low calorie and packed with antioxidants, vitamins and lots of flavor, so a little goes a long way!

You’ll need:

Herb Logs-Fresh homegrown or store bought leafy herbs
-Colander
-Salad spinner
-Reuseable freezer bags
-Dishcloths
-Elastic bands
-Permanent marker for labeling
