Cool lunch tip: Frozen sponge icepack

cool lunch tip-Margaux Drake

Back to school means back to making school lunches. Here’s a cool tip: Keep your kids’ fresh and healthy lunch box chilled with a frozen damp sponge. They’re inexpensive and fit perfectly into a plastic snack bag. Freeze the wet sponge in the bag and place one in each lunch box.  It will thaw with no danger of leaking, like the blue packs can. Between uses, pop the sponges in the microwave for a minute to kill any bacteria and re-use them numerous times. Have a safe, happy and healthy school year.

By the way, this tip works great for grown-up lunches or snacks too.
