GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) As kids head back to school, moms and dads want to make sure when the kids get home, there’s a healthy snack waiting for them. Maranda got a chance to talk with Katie Serbinski, a mom blogger with the United Dairy Industry of Michigan.
Her best advice, mix fruits and vegetables with a protein like a dairy product like milk, yogurt, and cheeses. Her recipe ideas include a pizza kabob, with fresh vegetables, pizza toppings and fresh cheese. Make apple wraps with deli meat as a protein, instead of a grain-based wrap. And a special treat that can be eaten either fresh or frozen are strawberry shortcake dippers. They are made with graham crackers, strawberry yogurt and fresh sliced strawberries.
