Children learn by playing at Hamilton Early Childhood Center in Kent County.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Children can get an excellent start to their education before kindergarten, with the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) by the Kent Intermediate School District.

GSRP is a state-funded preschool program for four-year-old children. The four-day-per-week program is free for families who qualify and is open to anyone who lives in Kent County. Kent ISD provides support for GSRP classrooms in 18 school districts, and several community-based organizations around Kent County.

Preschool is all about learning while having fun. Teachers are highly qualified and classes are kept small so each student can get individual attention. Preschool is important because children have the ability to make friends, develop new skills, and build a solid foundation for kindergarten. For more information or to request enrollment, call (616) 447-2409 or click here.
