IONIA, Mich.-Hamblin Body Shop held the 3rd Annual Soap Box Derby and will be donating the proceeds back to a local cause. Hamblin Body Shop will be presenting a check of $710.37 to the IM Kids 3rd Meal program on Tuesday, June 30th at 8:00 AM.
Roger, Roxanne and Donna Kammers explained that the Soap Box Derby is a bracket competition event for kids in the community to use their imagination and create their own ‘gravity’ driven car. Roger Kammers said “It is a fun event for kids and that is why we chose to donate to IM Kids 3rd Meal.”
“Hamblin Body Shop knows it’s important for kids to get food at night and how important it is for this program to stay alive.” -Donna Kammers.
In Ionia County 1 in 5 children are food insecure and in Montcalm County 1 in 4 are food insecure. IM Kids 3rd Meal is a feeding program that provides daily evening meals to food insecure children in Ionia and Montcalm counties.
IM Kids 3rd Meal is thankful for the gracious donation from Hamblins Body Shop. Every dollar donated to the program goes to purchase food for the 3rd meals. Each meal contains five food groups, contains approximately 1,000 calories and is available five nights a week.
