Questions about dry shampoo? Find the answers here!

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) — It’s no secret that washing your hair everyday can dry it out. Dry shampoo is a product that everyone is either raving about or hating on. It normally comes in a spray or powder and is used to absorb extra oil in hair, but it can also be used to add texture and volume. Here are some commonly asked questions when it comes to dry shampoo:

Why should I use dry shampoo?

Not only will dry shampoo help absorb extra oil in “next day hair”, but it can also help add texture to style your hair. Use it to refresh your bangs or de-grease your roots. However, dry shampoo is not needed on your ends or in bountiful amounts. Full, voluminous hair is gorgeous, but stark, crunchy hair is not.

Any pro tips before I use it?

Blend, blend, blend! After spraying your hair with dry shampoo, comb it through to evenly distribute. Also, after spraying in the dry shampoo, don’t touch your hair! Even clean hands ran through hair can leave natural oils behind, completely defeating the purpose of the dry shampoo.

What if I use too much?

Keep calm, and consult your blow dryer. First, use a lightweight serum over any areas of your hair that have become white and chalky, then, with your blow dryer on a low setting, use your fingers to work the rest of the dry shampoo into your hair.

What brand should I use?

Keeping a supply of different formulas can help with everyday hair catastrophes. Different formula sprays and powders can help do different things, whether it’s add volume, texture, or shine.
