Tips for your first 5K

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Summer is a great time to lace up your running shoes and hit the pavement for your first 5K. It may sound impossible, but it doesn’t need to be difficult. Kristina from Priority Health has some tips to make it from the couch to the finish line.

  1. Get a physical
  2. Pick a race
  3. Buddy up
  4. Find the right shoe
  5. Fuel your body

More advice from Kristina is to avoid taking on too much too fast. It’s exciting to take on a new challenge, but remember to pace yourself. And try to make it fun! If you find a form of physical activity you enjoy, you will be more motivated to stick to it.
