GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV)- Drum roll please…. the royal baby’s name has been revealed and Twitter is buzzing with the news! The new royal princess is home at Kensington Palace with the Duke and Duchess and she officially has been given the name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. This little lady is fourth in line to the throne — after Prince Charles: her father, Prince William; and her brother, Prince George. Her offical royal title is Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.
The royal baby watchers have been busy making their guesses on what name the princess would be given. It appears that Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is getting approval on social media. If you search #royalbaby you’ll find many thumbs up across the board.
Every mom knows that baby names draw plenty of critism and can be subject to lots of opinions. The Duke and Duchess went with a classic name paying homage to the baby’s grandfather, Charles, the Queen herself, Elizabeth and Prince WIlliam’s mother Diana. How can you go wrong with that?
According to the popular site Nameberry.com, Charlotte ranks at #11 in popularity for girl’s names. Nameberry.com goes on to say that “Charlotte is an elegant royal name and is appealing to a wide range of parents because it sounds feminine yet grownup, sophisticated yet lush.”
Before the baby’s name was announced the public had already narrowed down the most likely options:
Baby Charlotte was born on May 2nd at 8:34 a.m. (3:34 a.m. ET), weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces, according to the palace. She is the second child to Prince Willam and Kate. Charlotte was born nearly two years after her brother, Prince George.
