BELDING, Mich. (WOTV) A high school senior is making huge strides, thanks to her experience with the Girl Scouts. Allison started Girl Scouts as a Daisy in kindergarten. She stuck with the program and worked her way through to achieve a Gold Award.
A Gold Award is a sustainable project that a Girl Scout works on from year to year. Allison’s Gold Award project is The Gold Duck Project. She built a series of boxes where wood ducks can nest in the spring and lay eggs safely. She made six and placed them along the Flat River. Allison also brings an example into schools and made a presentation and games to teach kids about wildlife management.
Allison says scouting has taught her a lot about leadership, communication, and confidence. She obtained her Associate’s Degree through dual enrollment in high school and is now going to Central Michigan University for pre-med.
