Students win national awards for art, invited to Carnegie Hall

BYRON CENTER, Mich. (WOTV) Three Byron Center students and one East Grand Rapids student received top awards for their artwork, winning National Medals for this year’s Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Their work was chosen from about 300,000 submissions from across the country.

Each student qualified for the award by winning a top Gold Key Award at the 2015 West Central Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards event recently hosted by Kendall College of Art and Design.

The winners are:

  • Jordan Cooper, Byron Center West Middle School
  • Anna Pavlak, Byron Center West Middle School
  • Katherine Minnaar, Byron Center High School
  • Addyson Ives, East Grand Rapids High School
