Students play significant role in Live Arts

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Among the 1,500 performers participating in Live Arts are hundreds of students. Kids from more than 20 schools within six districts will share the stage with professional artists to pull off this unprecedented show.

Among the performers are marching bands from Grandville and East Kentwood High Schools as well as members of the Grand Rapids Symphony Youth Chorus and Youth Orchestra and the Grand Rapids Ballet’s Youth Ballet.

Hundreds of student singers will perform “I Will Rise,” a piece written by Sean Ivory especially for this production.

The audience will hear a universal story, unified by the talents of the Grand Rapids SymphonyGrand Rapids BalletOpera Grand Rapids, and Broadway Grand Rapids. Each organization has its chance to shine as they perform iconic works like Carmina Burana, Tosca, Phantom of the Opera, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
