GR Sled Wings at National Championship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) The Grand Rapids Sled Wings junior team is celebrating a big win! The team won the youth sled hockey Division A National Championship at the USA Disabled Hockey Festival in Buffalo, New York.

Two of the players on that team are 17-year-old Caleb and 12-year-old Taggart. They say they love sled hockey because it helps them be athletic and have a physical outlet, no matter their ability.

Sled hockey is hockey for people with all sorts of disabilities. Players are seated and use sticks to guide themselves on a sled along the ice.

Both Caleb and Taggart want to make their love of sled hockey a profession. Both have goals of joining a sled hockey team and participating in the Paralympics.
