Disabled students invited to Best Prom Ever

Students at Best Prom Ever

SPARTA, Mich. (WOTV) There is a special prom at Sparta High School that celebrates students of all abilities.

Best Prom Ever is a dance for high school teens and adults with disabilities. The idea started when a special education student thought he couldn’t go to prom. His mother contacted teacher Renne Wyman, who tasked her class to plan the event. Students run all aspects of the Best Prom Ever, from social media to marketing, sign-ups, volunteer training, and more.

The event has grown from a simple dinner to a wedding-like event, complete with dancing, balloons, gift bags, limo rides, and a photo booth. Best Prom Ever is free and open to anyone with a disability.

More than 700 people are expected to attend Best Prom Ever on Saturday, April 18 at Sparta High School. Attendees have the chance to get a free updo, manicure, or make-up done for free on the day of the prom. Schedule an appointment by calling (616) 293-5297 or make an appointment online.
