GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Van Andel Arena is going purple to raise money for Van Andel Institute. The Grand Rapids Griffins are hosting their fourth annual Purple Community Game on Friday, February 13. The players will wear purple jerseys to skate on purple ice. There will be purple concessions, purple-themed songs and crafts, purple Griffins merchandise, and more. All of the proceeds will go toward Parkinson’s Disease research at VAI.
The Purple Community is the Van Andel Institute’s community fundraising program. It works with individuals, schools, businesses, and community groups to organize fundraising events for VAI. So far, the program has raised $1 million.
Maranda will emcee the Purple Community Game at the Grand Rapids Griffins. The game starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. You can buy tickets online.
