Kent County Medical Society Alliance gives back in a big way

KCMSA Charity Ball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV)-The Kent County Medical Society Alliance is primarily a philanthropic organization raising money for local children’s charities.  Several events are held throughout the year but the largest fundraising effort is the annual charity ball.  The money raised benefits two charities selected yearly as well as funding mini grant requests. This year, the two non-profits who benefited from the Charity Ball are Ele’s Place and Baxter Community Center.

Ele’s Place is a healing center for grieving children and teens.  Each week, peer support group programs help hundreds of children, ages 3-18, learn how to cope and begin to heal after the death of a parent, sibling or other close family member or friend. For more information click here.

Baxter Community works by addressing immediate needs, assisting individuals to become responsible, productive and self-sufficient, and affirming the positive qualities in individuals and the community. The Baxter neighborhood is a community in need. Within the Baxter neighborhood, community members have an annual income of less than $25,000. 3,056 of the community’s households had an annual income of less than $15,000.

The charities chosen for support by the Charity Ball for Children, the KCMSA Foundation awards Mini Grants to charities that support and promote the health and well-being of individuals, programs and organizations in Kent County. Each Mini Grant request should not exceed $2,000. Applications are received on an on-going basis from organizations with a 501(c)3 status.  Individual requests may be made through an organization that meets this requirement.
