Ronald McDonald House supports IM Kids 3rd Meal Program in a big way

IONIA, Mich. (WOTV)-On January 15th, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Outstate Michigan presented the IM Kids 3rd Meal program with a check for $10,000 to help the fight to end childhood hunger in Ionia and Montcalm Counties. The check presentation took place at the HO Steele Education Center in Fenwick, MI where the program is located.

This is the second grant that Ronald McDonald House Charities of Outstate Michigan has granted the IM Kids 3rd Meal program. To date, the Ronald McDonald House Charities contribution to date to $35,000.

IM (Ionia-Montcalm) Kids 3rd Meal is committed to ending childhood hunger in Ionia and Montcalm counties. In Ionia County 1 in 5 children are food insecure and in Montcalm County 1 in 4 are food insecure. Studies have shown that a lack of healthy food can impair a child’s ability to concentrate and perform well in school. Hungry children struggle to stay on track with other students in school because they are more likely to experience headaches, stomachaches, colds, ear infections and fatigue.

IM Kids 3rd Meal is currently serving 2 schools in Ionia and Montcalm Counties. The 3rd Meals are prepared by volunteers at the H.O. Steele Education Center, delivered to schools in the afternoon, and then distributed to the students before they are dismissed for the day. Students receive a balanced 3rd Meal each school day, which is ready-to-eat evening meal.

The IM Kids 3rde Meal Program needs strong community support to make this program a success, and reach more students.  For more information on how you or your company can support IM Kids 3rd Meal program, please call IM Kids 3rd Meal at 616-527-4900, email imkids3rdmeal@gmail.com  or visit http://www.imkids.org.
