IONIA, Mich.-Martin Luther King Jr. said “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, 40 employees from Michigan One Community Credit Union volunteered at IM Kids 3rd Meal program.
Michigan One employees from across Ionia and Montcalm County, volunteered to assist the IM Kids 3rd Meal Program in assisting with food orders from Feeding America, packed sandwiches, repackaged multiple food items, made trail mix, cleaned and organized and helped decorated bags. Volunteers assemble“Party Bags” which will be delivered to a local food pantry . The Party Bags will be distributed to community members wanting to celebrate a birthday, but don’t have the means to purchase materials.
An important aspect of MLK Day of Service is for people to make a commitment to serve, and also show how any community member can lend a helping hand, not just today but every day of the year.
M1 also partnered with IM Kids 3rd Meal on a coat, boot and book drive. More than 752 items were donated during the drive, where items will be distributed to Alpha Women’s Center, Greenville Men’s Shelter, Rave-Ionia, Eight Cap (pre K-age 5), Ionia Public Schools and Montcalm Public Schools.
We loved having you (M1 employees), such a fun group of people. Today was a huge success and you all made a big difference.” IM Kids 3rd Meal VISTAs
