Holiday Lights Tour!

This has been going on for many years around West Michigan, and it is a blast! Take the kids out to see all the holiday cheer! Try playing “count the ____” game. There’s listing from Rockford to Zeeland and many places in between. Click here for a full list of locations!

Santa Sightings!

Nothing gets kids more excited for Christmas than hanging out with Santa. He is all over West Michigan and most events are free, just make sure to bring your camera. Click here for a full list of Santa sightings.

For Older Kids

Animal Adventure Day at the Humane Society in West Michigan. Don’t miss out on the first Animal Adventure Day for kids in grades 6-8. Join fellow animal loving teens on Friday, January 2 from 9-3:30pm to end your break with some purrs, wags, and hops! Cost is $35. Click here for more info.

Night at the Museum at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. Become part of the unfolding drama as characters from the GRPM exhibits come to life! Visitors will experience an interactive evening of character appearances, entertainment, food and fun. Meet Betsy Ross, Cleopatra and her clan, Civil War soldiers, knights, the Queen and many more. See a knights battle , ride the carousel and enjoy watching a Mighty Wurlitzer concert or planetarium show. Tickets for this dinner are $35 and include admission to the Night at Your Museum program. Dinner begins at 4:45 p.m. Actual event goes from 6-9 pm, tickets $25. Click here for more info.

Grand Rapids Griffins game. Come down to Van Andel arena for some hockey and hot dogs! Kids can’t get enough of all the excitement on ice, and the best part is tickets are super affordable! Click here for the Griffins schedule.

All Ages

Get artistic with the family! Brush Studio Family Days are Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Check out their calendar for the featured Family Day paintings. $30 for children under twelve years old.

Check out Snowflake Break at the Public Museum. They will have snowflake crafts and pirate hats complete with the Jolly Roger for all ages to make. The Museum will stay open until 8 p.m. for visitors to see the exhibition Real Pirates late during most of these special evenings. December 22 – 23, 26, 28 – 30 and January 2 – 4. It’s free to attend with regular museum admission.

Ring in the New Year at a reasonable hour at the “Happy ‘Noon’ Year Party”! Kent District Libraries are giving kids an exciting way to ring in 2015 with a countdown, noisemakers, goodies and fun. December 31 at 11:30 am. Click here for a list of locations.

 Stay Active

If you have active little ones, take them to Toddler Tuesdays at the Kroc Center, Toddler Rec at the Byron Center Community Center, or Toddler Time at Sky Zone. And if you’re near Holland, check out Crazy Bounce Toddler Time or Parent and Tot Play Time at Holland Aquatic Center.

Check out open hours at The Kroc Center! The Kroc Center has tons of options that would make any kid flip! A complete fitness and recreation facility offering cardio machines, strength-training machines and free weights, as well as a 2-court gym, indoor track, aquatics center with a pool, hot tub and giant water slide, art studios, a game room, drop-in fitness classes, program classes such as swim lessons, Zumba, sports leagues, educational courses, dance, yoga, spin and more! Take the kids tubing at Pando Winter Sports Park or go sledding at any sledding location in West Michigan, there’s a ton!

Day Camps

Holiday Camp at Holland MVP. Ages 3 to 11. Activities include swimming, sports, games, arts and crafts. Campers bring their own lunch. Daily rates available. Register at the Athletic Club service desk or online. Camps run 9am – 1pm. Extended care available from 1-3pm for an extra $10/day. December 22-23.

Holiday Mini Sports Camp at Rockford MVP. Ages 3 to 11. Activities include sports, games, arts and crafts. Daily rates available. Register at the Athletic Club service desk or online. Camps run 12pm – 4pm. Discounts available for multiple children. $15/day for 2nd child. $10/day for each child after 2. Discounts cannot be applied online so please call our Kids Stuff Team Leader at (616)784-8771 for multiple child sign ups. December 22, 23, 26, 29, 30 and January 2.

New Years Overnight Camp. Ages 8-15. Ring in 2015 camp style! Every detail is covered, from noisemakers to party hats – the party won’t stop till the ball drops. Count down the New Year by conquering our high ropes course or nailing a bull’s-eye in archery. 6:00 PM- 10:00 AM. December 31- January 1.
