Teach children to be grateful givers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) A big part of the holiday season is giving and receiving gifts. To teach your children how to be grateful and be good givers, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services has some tips.

  • Take your children shopping:
    • Take younger kids shopping for others
    • Make giving gifts to others an expectation for older kids
    • Find thoughtful gifts for others with your children
    • Discuss what the recipient likes and dislikes
  • Be an example of generosity – kids will learn by watching you
  • Let kids wrap their gifts and take pride in giving them
  • Write thank you notes – links gratitude with receiving gifts
