BELMONT, Mich. (WOTV) At North Kent Services, children make a beeline for shelves of toys that are donated to the organization. What they don’t know is each set of clean, matched toys and accessories is put together by one very special volunteer.

George Lautenbach volunteers at North Kent Services. When he started there, he saw there was a better way to go through the donated toys. He brings all the toys home, cleans them, and matches them up to make complete sets. He has bins of action figures, dinosaurs, baby toys, dolls, and more.

When asked why he does it, Lautenbach says, “I just love the friendships I’ve been able to encounter up there.”

“I need a project. I got to keep out of the house,” he jokes.

North Kent Community Services is a Christian organization that helps struggling people in Kent County with basic life needs and teaches them to become self-sufficient. They rely on donations and volunteers just like Lautenbach. If you would like to help, visit their website.
