Grand Rapids Drive goes purple for first game

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) The first time the Grand Rapids Drive takes the court for their home game, they will be going purple.

The Grand Rapids Drive is a new NBA development league basketball team headquartered in Grand Rapids. It is partnering with Van Andel Institute to host a Purple Game for its home opener on Wednesday, November 26. The game will include a 50/50 raffle benefiting Van Andel Institute, half time entertainment by dunking sensation Porter Maberry, and an auction after the game of five DRIVE player jerseys and autographed purple basketballs.

Purple Community is a fundraising program which supports cancer and neurodegenerative disease research at Van Andel Institute.
