GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Families can learn about the real lives of pirates with a new exhibition at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
“Real Pirates: The Untold Story of The Wyhdah from Slave Ship to Pirate Ship” opens Saturday, October 18. It tells the story of the slave ship the Wyhdah, which was coming from Africa to the Caribbean when it was overtaken by pirates. The Wyndah sank two years later off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
The “Real Pirates” exhibition includes a full-size recreation of the pirate ship that you can actually walk through! You can also see about 200 authentic artifacts recovered from the shipwreck and explore pirate treasure.
