ArtPrize Final 20 revealed

The excitement in Grand Rapids is overflowing as the Final 20 entries of ArtPrize 2014 were revealed yesterday in an announcement at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids.

The Final 20 includes five pieces of artwork in four categories: two-dimensional, three-dimensional, time-based and installation . These pieces of art received the most public votes during the first round of voting.

The entries that receive the most votes in their respective categories will win $20,000. The entry that receives the most votes overall will win the $200,000 grand prize.

Two-dimensional:

“Always Nowhere” by Liz Roberts at the Grand Rapids Art Museum
“Your Move?” by Robert Shangle at the Harris Building
“Peralux” by NewD Media at The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts
“Color Out the Darkness” by Carol Roeda at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum

Installation:

Round 2 of voting opened at 3 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Oct.9. The winners of both public vote and juried prizes will be announced on Oct. 10 at the sixth annual ArtPrize Awards ceremony. ArtPrize 2014 ends Oct. 12.
