GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) The circus is in town in Grand Rapids, with the arrival of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus show “Built to Amaze.” It will be at Van Andel Arena from Thursday, September 18 through Sunday, September 21.
The high-energy tour includes new acts, new performers and never-before-seen show elements that mark the 143rd edition of The Greatest Show On Earth. Ringmaster Andre McClain will lead the show with his horse “Comanche” and the rest of the circus performers throughout the event. The show features more than 110 of the world’s best performers representing 17 countries, along with 95 exotic and domestic animals. New this year to Ringling Bros. is the Tower Tumblers, a team of competitive athletes from Ukraine who launch themselves from trampolines, then repel and pass through translucent towers.
Ringling Bros. boasts a spirited and fiery competitive basketball game with the legendary King Charles Troupe – a team of whirling unicyclists from New York City. Duo Solys and Duo Fusion will amaze with their incredible strength and flexibility to build a human pyramid. The Wheel of Steel Acrobats defy the force of gravity as they spin through the Steel Vortex at speeds more than 25 miles per hour.
Children can see what it takes to build The Greatest Show On Earth by heading to the arena floor for the All Access Pre-Show one hour before show time. Kids and families can meet the cast of performers, try on costumes, and learn circus skills like juggling.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Van Andel Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at (800) 745-3000.
