GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV)-Grand Rapids is once again stealing the Hollywood spotlight. The stars of the hit show “Tanked” on Animal Planet were downtown for a big surprise. A 650 gallon fish tank was built in the lobby of the Mercy Health Lacks Cancer Center. It was a surprise that was unveiled to the public during the annual ‘Up On The Roof’ fundraising event held on Thursday, September 11, 2014.
“This tank melds perfectly with our mission of healing mind, body and spirit, explains Kenda Klotz, clinical service director of Mercy Health Lacks Cancer Center. “Its addition to our lobby enhances our efforts of creating a soothing environment where family and patients can find respite and a bit of peace while dealing with the stress of illness.”Hosts of the show, Wayde King and Brett Raymenr, Stiles Machinery and the Mercy Health Lacks Cancer Center were all in attendance for the media event about the big reveal.

Cast and crew filmed scenes for an upcoming episode featuring Stiles Machinery, who donated the tank and equipment. RussSuor, Executive VP of Technology at Stiles Machinery said, “We wanted to use this opportunity to give back.” The hosts were downtown to install the 12 foot fish tank, which showcases the Grand Rapids skyline. Animal Planet’s “Tanked” will feature Grand Rapids and the new aquarium on Friday, November 21, 2014.
