Learning life skills through landscaping

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Gardening, weeding, and lawn care are not always the most fun. But some West Michigan students are using landscaping to learn some important lessons.

The employment training program at Wedgwood Christian Services includes a landscaping program. Participants learn about lawn care including mowing, edging, trimming, picking weeds, and mulching.

Students not only learn about landscaping, but they are taught life skills such as responsibility, quality of work, teamwork, time efficiency, and building relationships. The skills they learn can build their confidence to transition to the next step in life.
