GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Bring your four-legged friend out for a tail wagging good time. The Harbor Humane Society is gearing up for its annual Tails on Trails Dog Walk, the animal shelter’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The event, which will be held at the Outdoor Discovery Center (4214 56th Street; Holland, MI 49423), will take place on August 23, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The event centers around a designated route where families are encouraged to walk their dog, along with other activities that the whole family and dogs can enjoy. Food and promotional venders will also be on site. There will be a special appearance from Zeke the Wonder Dog, whose popularity comes from performing during the halftime of many Michigan State University football games.
Participants will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets on location, as well as at the Harbor Humane Society animal shelter prior to the event that gives them a chance to win numerous prizes including the grand prize of $600. Tickets are selling for $1 for one ticket, $5 for six tickets, and $20 for 25 tickets.
Proceeds during the event will go to support medical needs of the animals cared for at the shelter. Funds will go towards items such as surgical supplies, medications, immunizations, and veterinary care.
