GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) It’s a busy time of year, as summer winds down and parents and their children prepare to head back to the classroom. It’s a time filled with both excitement and anxiety. Maranda sat down with a group of teachers who are part of Kent Intermediate School District to talk with them about advice for both students and their parents.
The teachers agree it’s alright for both students and their parents to feel a little on edge, they advise trying to coach your child through it rather than trying to remove the fear. It’s important to build your child up and let them know they have the skills to tackle the problems they may face. While the kids are excited and nervous, so are the teachers, and it’s important for both students and teachers to be ready, responsible, respectful and safe.
Overall, it’s important for parents to spend time with their children. Take the time to do something that’s fun and that you both enjoy.
