Olympic athlete encourages runners in new 5K

ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOTV) Dathan Ritzenhein is back in West Michigan and is getting involved to encourage people and families to get fit!

Ritzenhein graduated from Rockford High School in 2001 and went to the University of Colorado, where he ran cross country and track and field. He went on to compete in three Olympic games. He recently moved back to West Michigan with wife and two children.

Ritzenhein is partnering with Meijer for the Meijer LPGA Classic 5K at Rockford High School at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 9. The race will finish on the football field, with a breakfast sponsored by Kellogg’s. All participants get a ticket to the Meijer LPGA Classic, August 4 through 10 at Blythfield Country Club in Rockford.
