Cooling waters for hot summers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) When it’s hot outside do your body a favor and skip the sugary drinks in favor of lighter and cooler flavors.

I keep a glass infusion pitcher at home however you can create these drinks individually in a glass or use a tea infuser to create your own.

Mint is an obvious choice because it’s easy to grow, cooling and tastes great.  Mints cool the body while stimulating circulation, which can help you increase the bodies ability to remove toxins. Need some ideas to pair with your mint?  Try lemon, cucumber, watermelon or berries.

Coconut water is also cooling and tastes great with pineapple, mango, or lime. These drinks are interesting and super fresh.  Coconut will also keep you hydrated and restore the bodies electrolytes better than water alone.

So ease up on the alcohol and caffeine which are both dehydrating, limit the sugary sodas and amp up on some fresh and natural flavors instead.
