GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) A group of young men are making a difference in the community. They’re part of Urban Fellows, which is associated with the Grand Rapids Urban League.
The program has been working with many of the teens since they were in eighth grade. Now many of them are going into their senior year of high school, and are focusing on what they want in terms of college and an occupation. They are encouraged to do research to find out what kind of occupation suits them best and what it will take for them to succeed in it.
One way the Urban Fellows are showing people they care about the community and their health is by picking up trash and cigarette butts in their neighborhoods. It’s part of their message that being healthy includes not smoking.
