GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) According to Equality Now, each year at least 20.9 million adults and children are bought and sold worldwide into commercial sexual servitude, forced labor and bonded labor.
Thousands of women and children are at risk every day. It may seem like a foreign idea, but it’s happening all over the world and even in our own backyard in West Michigan. That’s why Women at Risk, International (WAR) raises funds to combat the exploitation and slavery of women and children. They run the “WAR Chest Boutique,” which benefits rescued women.
The War Chest Boutique offers a variety of items to choose from, including home décor pieces, soaps, candles, handcrafted jewelry created by local at-risk women and more! WAR, International was first started in 2006 and now has multiple WAR Chest Boutiques in Michigan to support their cause, including a location in Wyoming.
