Experience a day on the farm

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOTV) There’s an event coming up where families can get a free, fresh breakfast and learn about how a dairy farm works. Breakfast on the Farm is Saturday, July 19, at Crandall Dairy Farm near Battle Creek. Breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to noon and tours of the farm take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Visitors can learn about the dairy industry, where milk comes from, and about crops planted on the farm. Organizers say it’s an important event because most people haven’t been on a farm in a long time or have never been on a farm. They learn about modern agriculture, what their food goes through before getting to the grocery store, and about how important dairy is to a healthy, balanced diet. Four servings of dairy a day is recommended.

Visitors to Breakfast on the Farm can see how cows are milked, talk to local veterinarians, talk to people who specialize in making sure farming is safe for the environment, and learn what farmers do every day.

Breakfast on the Farm is free! All you need is a free ticket, available at these locations:
